Pride's last non-conference match ends with 3-1 loss to Central
PELLA, Iowa - In one final journey into non-conference action, the Clarke University women's volleyball team dropped a four set match to Central College in Pella, Iowa on Tuesday night.
The Pride were able to produce improvement from a scoring standpoint as the match continued, after starting with a 25-13 loss in the first set before getting to 18 points in the second, then winning the third set 25-20, and even though they dropped the fourth set, CU would have their best hitting percentage and lowest attacking errors of any set in the match at a .225 with just three errors in the final set.
In one of her best individual performances of the season, junior Kortney Harms produced her fourth triple-double of the season with a match-high 14 kills, on a .310 hitting percentage, while adding 12 digs and 10 assists on the night as fellow setter and freshman Jaxcyn Berntgen producing her first career collegiate double-double with a team-high 18 assists and 12 digs of her own.
CU's Keely Colyer also had more kills than anyone in the Dutch lineup with her 12 kill on 40 swings while also adding a career-high seven aces for a 19-point night to lead all players in the match in points scored.
For Central, three members of their attack finished with double digit kills, led by a pair of 11-kill performances from Maelyn Wainwright and Leslie Snow, who added 14 digs for her own double-double, as Paige Sexton was right behind that duo with 10 kills on the night.
Clarke women's volleyball will return home and return to Heart play for their Senior Day match on Saturday, Oct. 25 when they host Graceland University for a 2:00 p.m. CT scheduled first serve in the Kehl Center.
