Pride begin short weekend homestand with three-set loss to MidAmerica Nazarene

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Hosting just their second Heart of America Athletic Conference home match this season, the Clarke University women's volleyball team dropped a 3-0 match to MidAmerica Nazrene University on Friday night in the Kehl Center.

The two teams played similarly scored sets to the Pioneers' sweep as they earned set wins of 25-19, 25-18, and 25-18 with their hitting percentage finishing better as a team than CU's to end each set, including a strong .227 in the third set with 14 kills and just four errors.

Neither team had a member of their attack finish with double digit kills as MNU was led by a nine-kill night from Madeline Angel, who produced that number with just two errors on 22 swings for a .318 hitting percentage while the Pride were led by seven kills from Keely Colyer, who finished with seven kills on 23 swings with just one attack error for a .261 while adding 11 digs and seven assists.

Clarke's attack was given a boost in the second and third set from sub Emma Shea-Wopinek who entered the game in the late stages of the second set to finish with five kills, the second most on the team, on nine swings without a single error for a .556 hitting percentage.

Five different players combined between the two teams would finish the match with double digit digs as Pioneer libero Emily Mathis had a match-high 23 digs with her teammate Dominika Bartosz producing 10 digs as three members of the Pride had over 10 digs with Jayden Knox leading the team at 15 digs then Kortney Harms having a 13-dig, 16-assist double-double along with Colyer's 11 digs.

Clarke women's volleyball will be right back on the floor of the Kehl Center on Saturday morning, Sept. 20 when they welcome the Wildcats of Culver-Stockton College to Dubuque to finish up their brief, two-match homestand with an 11:00 a.m. CT scheduled first serve.
