Pride dominate Ottawa for third Heart win

OTTAWA, Kan. - Nearing the final stretch of their 2026 season, the Clarke University men's lacrosse team was able to get back in the win column with a huge 25-3 win on the road over Ottawa University on Saturday afternoon.

Snapping a two-game losing skid with their season-high goals scored, the Pride were able to score at least five goals in every quarter of the game and only allow a goal in the second and fourth quarters for Jack Fritz to produce a four-save win playing the whole game in net for his second win of the year.

To the offensive outburst, both Tyler Fleming and Xavier Howard had 10-point performances exactly flipped with how the 10 points were scored as Fleming led the game with his seven goals then added three assists while Howard had a seven-assist game to add three goals to lead the way for CU's attack.

Six other members of the Pride had multi-point games on the day with the pair of Matt Warmowski and Jackson Michaels each netting four goals with Michaels producing three assists and Warmowski adding an assist as Jahvon Anderson had a goal and three assists, Aiden Gudenkauf had two goals, Reese Rubino and Ashani Harvey had a goal and an assist each, then Tank Payton and Max Alexandrov both scored a goal apiece with Alexandrov's being the first goal of his collegiate career.

Behind the offense and in front of Fritz, Josh Pote won 22 of his 28 faceoff attempts with Theo Deberghes grabbing 11 ground balls, then the trio of Logan Dedrick, Kaden Pemberton, and Ethan Cornett combined for eight ground balls and two caused turnovers with not a lot of possession time in the Clarke defensive end.

Pride men's lacrosse will play their final home game of the 2026 season on Saturday, Apr. 18 when they play host to William Woods University for a 2:00 p.m. CT scheduled opening faceoff against the Owls at Burrows Field.
