Pride suffer 5-0 road loss to No. 4 MidAmerica Nazarene
OLATHE, Kan. - Facing yet another ranked opponent in the challenging Heart of America Athletic Conference, the Clarke University men's soccer team was unable to produce a quality result in a 5-0 defeat to No. 4 ranked MidAmerica Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon.
Playing to scoreless 0-0 game for over 26 minutes of action, MNU was able to produce all five of their goals from two different goal scorers within a stretch of 36 total minutes between the end of the first half and early stages of the second half.
In the 27th minute, Jeremie Pelade notched his fourth goal of the season on an assist from Tom Chartier as Pelade would score in the 39th minute and 52nd minute for the hat trick while receiving assists from Antonio Mugica and Jaxon Slaven for his second and third goals.
Slaven was the other player to find the back of the net for the Pioneers as he scored his two goals in the second half, first in the 49th minute on an assist from Gabriel Fernandes then his second of the game and third of the season came as the final blow in the 63rd minute on an assist from Elyes Ellouz.
The field wasn't seemingly tilted towards the MidAmerica Nazarene side of the field during the game as they only outshot the Pride 17-12 but nine of those 17 shots when on goal where only four of the CU shots went on frame against Tobias Stirl for the Pioneers backstop to produce his seventh shutout of the year.
Of the members of the Clarke lineup that got shots of, Alvaro Martinez got the most attempts on net as the junior was credited with a team-high three shots while Carles Aparisi, Alfonso Gonzalez, Erick Jose Rodriguez Solares, and Edgar Mora took the four shots on goal in the game for the Pride.
Clarke men's soccer will be on the road again in a week's time when they travel to Atchison, Kan. for a Saturday afternoon matchup against Benedictine College for a scheduled 2:30 p.m. CT start against the Ravens on Oct. 11.
