Pride offense slowed by Augustana in 10-3 road loss
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Getting on the road for the first time in about two weeks, the Clarke University men's lacrosse team dropped a 10-3 game to Augustana College on Wednesday night.
A rough first half dug a hole for the Pride that they couldn't climb out of as they surrendered a 4-0 first quarter that was followed up by a 3-1 advantage for the Vikings to be up 7-1 at the half.
Another scoreless quarter from CU in the third saw AC climb their lead to 9-1 as they would get the first goal of the fourth quarter before Henry La Belle would get two unanswered goals late in the fourth to move his seasn goal total to eight.
Clarke's first half goal was scored by Doug Powless in a man-up situation to make the game 6-1 at the time off of an assist from Matt Archer but the Vikings would take about 30 seconds answer and push their lead back up to six goals.
Augustana was led on the offensive end by a three-goal performance from Graham Shap as Jake Moore, Brady Holtz, and Jack Connolly each added two-goal games while starting goalie Gus Magnusson picked up the win with a 13-save performance through the first three quarters, giving way to Nick Morgan for the final 15 mintues as he only made one save on three shots on goal.
Pride men's lacrosse will return home for their first home game in Heart of America Athletic Conference action when they host Missouri Valley College on Saturday, Mar. 23, for a 4:00 p.m. CT opening faceoff.
