Ruegsegger posts another top-10 as Pride wrap up NAIA Midwest Invitational

SILVIS, Ill. - Heading down route 61 to the Quad Cities, the Clarke University golf team competed in a two-day tournament at TPC Deere Run as the Pride finished in 10th place as a team on Tuesday.

Being able to jump up two spots from their Monday finish of 12th place, CU shot a team 333 in the opening round to then improve their team score nearly 20 strokes on the second day to a 314.

Clarke was led by Carter Ruegsegger's tie for 10th finish of a two-round 151 (+9) as he improved on his 77 in the first round to shoot a 74 (+3) in Tuesday's final round. This marks the fifth time in five tournaments that Ruegsegger has found himself in the top 10 of the tournament's individual leaderboard.

The rest of the CU lineup finished with no score lower than 81 in a round outside of Jesse Frye's second-round 78 as Frye finished with a 171 (91-78), Logan Winn shot 85 and 81 to finish at 166, Alex McLeland went 81 and 87 to total 168, and Jared Martinson shot 90 then 81 to finish at 171 as well.

Pride men's golf will compete in one more tournament before the Heart Conference Fall Preview as they will head to Lacrosse, Wis. for the Viterbo Invite at Lacrosse Country Club on Oct. 3-4.
