Pride close out final weekend before conference at three different meets

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - In the final full week of April, the Clarke University track and field teams competed at the Drake Relays, Grand View Viking Classic, and Augie Alternative in Des Moines, Iowa and Rock Island, Ill. this on Friday and Saturday.

At the Drake Relays, the Pride men's team had Ja'kobe Kizer compete in the triple jump to a top jump of 13.20 meters with the 4x100 relay team earned the ability to run a heat, but were unable to complete their race due to a lane violation disqualification.

Kizer also jumped at the Augie Alternative, improving on his triple jump mark to a 14.05-meter first place finish at the meet then also producing a third place long jump mark of 6.59 meters leading the group of jumpers that shined as a whole with Keifer Landes taking attempts towards national qualification both at Grand View and Augustana by clearing the pole vault bar at 4.55 meters on Friday then 4.56 meters on Saturday as Grace Squires winning the women's pole vault at Augustana with a 3.41 meter clearance, and Reese Ryan produced a 1.50 meter high jump third place at grand view and a fifth place long jump of 5.13 meters.

On the track, three CU runners earned race wins starting on Friday in Des Moines with John Raven earning a 400-meter dash win at 50.38 seconds then both Hailey Packer and Jaycie Franco earned wins at Augustana on Saturday with Packer running a 13.02 100-meter dash time ahead of Gracee Roig's 13.16 in second place and Franco won the 800 meters at a 2:30.30 time.

Clarke track and field will now prepare to run at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships hosted by Mount Mercy University on Friday and Saturday, May 1-2 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
