Krapfl receives third-career Heart Weekly Honor for back-to-back shutout wins

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Earning back-to-back wins for the first time this season, the Clarke University women's soccer team also received some individual recognition as senior goalkeeper Faith Krapfl earned the Heart of America Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week honor, Heart officials announced on Monday.

Krapfl received this recognition twice in 2024, leading to an All-Heart Third Team selection at the end of the regular season as Krapfl was able to help the Pride keep both Mount Mercy University and William Woods University off the scoreboard in a pair of wins last week.

For her effort, Krapfl recorded one save in the shutout over the Mustangs at home last Tuesday night where the Pride were able to get a game-winning goal within the last 90 seconds of the game when Laryssa Pritchard scored her first goal of the season then Krapfl upped her counting stats on Saturday as she made five saves against the Owls in a 2-0 road victory for her most saves on the season so far.

Playing in front of the Peosta, Iowa native has been a bit of a rotating group due to injuries but the constants have been freshman center back Malia Silvers and junior defensive midfielder Keylilah Gutierrez who are both newcomers to the CU lineup this season and have hardly, if ever, come off the field for Clarke during games this regular season.

Back to Krapfl, so far on the season, she has only allowed seven goals in just under 690 minutes played this year for a sub-one goals against average while making 21 saves over that time for a .750 save percentage and also has contributed at least a half's worth of action to all six shutouts the Pride have recorded this year, three of which she has played the full 90 minutes.

Clarke women's soccer will remain on the road this week but have the mid-week off as their next game is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4 when they travel to Olathe, Kan. to match up against MidAmerica Nazarene University.
