Having to play a day later than expected because of storms that rolled in the night before, Clarke University women's soccer team lost to Grand View University by a score of 1-0 in Des Moines, Iowa.
The teams stayed level going into halftime with Clarke out shooting Grandview 14 to 0 in the opening period.
In the second half, Grand View was able to get a goal in the 67th minute when Mea Bell would throw the ball in, get the ball passed back to her, and take a shot from deep that would be just out of reach for Clarke's goalie Faith Krapfl.
That would be the only shot the Vikings would be credited for as the Pride had significantly more shots in the game as a whole, finishing the 90 minutes outshooting GVU 23-1 while taking 13 shots on goal, but all were saved by the Vikings with goalkeeper Maya Fritz making 12 of those 13 saves.
The team leaders in shots for CU in the game were Abby Prunty and Samantha Miller, who both had four shots in the game with Morgan Lock taking three shots after moving from her normal back line defensive position to a forward position.
Pride women's soccer will be back at home for a scheduled 1:00 pm. CT kickoff against Central Methodist University on Saturday, Sept. 20.
