DUBUQUE, Iowa - Hosting their second-straight home game in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, the Clarke University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 game to No. 9 Missouri Valley College on Saturday morning at Burrows Field.
The game moved to a morning kickoff due to forecasted heat and the Vikings were up early and ready for the task, scoring their first goal in the 15th minute when Silvia Maldonado was able to get a shot by CU starting keeper Faith Krapfl to take an early 1-0 lead that would carry all the way to halftime.
MVC would score their second half goals in quick fashion against Clarke and freshman sub at goalie Abigail Turley as Judit Ferre scored in the 55th minute to double the lead before Ashley Arribas would make it the eventual final score of 3-0 nearly 40 seconds later with Ana Rendon and Fabiana Vasquez assisting on the goals.
The Pride were only able to fire off three total shots with none going on goal to test either Vikings starting goalie Lola Martinez Benitez or backup Marina Barbara Bujalance with Krapl and Turley combining to make six saves on the nine shots on goal they faced.
CU's Abby Prunty was able to take two of the team's three shots in her 79 minutes of action as she, Keylilah Gutierrez, Liv Turnquist, and Melony Jimenez all played over 70 minutes with Malia Silvers, Morgan Lock, and Hailey Packer playing 90-minute games on the Pride back line.
Pride women's soccer will be on the road for their next Heart matchup when they travel to Des Moines, Iowa for a scheduled 7:30 p.m. CT kickoff against Grand View University on Wednesday, Sept. 17.
