Tenney-Sierra notches first Pride goal in 1-0 win over William Penn

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Returning to their home field for the first time in the month of September, the Clarke University women's soccer team got back into the win column for the first time in four games with a 1-0 victory over William Penn University at Burrows Field.

The Pride were successful from preventing the Statesmen from even sniffing a scoring opportunity as WPU would only be credited for one shot over the entirety of the 90-minute game with none of those shots going on goal, despite a CU back line that is somewhat descimated with injuries to three defensive players keeping them out of action and the quartet of Hailey Packer, Liv Turnquist, Morgan Lock, and Malia Silvers all playing the full 90 minutes at the four defensive positions of the Clarke formation.

That would allow the goalkeeping duo of Faith Krapfl and Abigail Turley to combine for their third shutout and a tandem and the fourth shutout for CU overall without needing to make a save as Krapfl would come away with the individual victory to move her season record to 2-2-2.

Clarke would get on the board in the 17th minute when Jennifer Tenney-Sierra when Packer would send a cross into the box, first touched by Turnquist but blocked by a defender right to Tenney-Sierra who would bury the rebound into the back of the net with her left foot for her first career goal since joining the Pride this season after transferring in from Iowa Western Community College prior to the start of this season.

Pride women's soccer will host their next game when they welcome No. 9 Missouri Valley College to Burrows Field on Saturday, Sept. 13 for a scheduled 1:00 p.m. CT scheduled opening kickoff against the Vikings.
