Pride golf finishes season-opening stretch with Iowa Central Fall Kickoff

FORT DODGE, Iowa - The third-straight day of golf action for Clarke University golf as the men's team joined the party as both the men and women competed in a single round event at Fort Dodge Country Club in the Iowa Central Fall Kickoff on Monday.

Both teams went with their B units as the women's team had their third-straight day of competition so their lineup consisted of juniors Jessi Wagner and Maya England, freshman Caley McKinney, and senior Irene Metaxas while the men sent a five-man team of juniors Matthew Smith, Caeson Clarke, and Hayden Hoekstra then freshman Peyton Roth and Ian Lantz to round out their five-man team while also traveling individuals in junior Tommy Eikosidekas and senior Tyler Kell.

The women finished in fourth place out of the five competing teams with Wagner earning a top-10 individual placement, finishing in ninth place with a career-best 94 as she shot a 42 on the front and a 52 on the back nine to lead the Pride on the day with England shooting her own personal low round of 103, McKinney finishing at 107, and Metaxas carding a 109 for the final team score of 413.

On the men's side, Smith and Roth tied for the best score for CU at a tie for 41st place with matching scores of 81 while Clarke posted an 83 with Hoekstra and Lantz producing scores of 87 to tie for 69th as the team finishing in 12th place with a 332.

Individually, Eikosidekas and Kell got their seasons started with scores of 89 and 96 respectively as Eikosidekas was able to finish with two birdies and four pars with Kell opening his round with a par on the first and also shooting par on the 552-yard par five seventh hole.

Pride golf will be more local in their next event when they play at The Meadows in Asbury, Iowa for the Loras Invite next Sunday and Monday Sept. 14-15.
