Stefanini's advancement to Finals highlights Pride bowling's trip to USBC Sectionals
ADDISON, Ill. - Competing in national postseason competition for the second-straight time on the men's side and for the first time since 2021 on the women's side, the Clarke University bowling teams wrapped up their team seasons this past weekend at the United States Bowling Congress Collegiate Sectionals.
Before getting to the team portions of the event, the individuals for the Pride took to the lanes for six games for singles qualification with CU men's sophomore Camryn Stefanini produced a top-eight finish of 1301 total pins to officially tie for seventh amongst the almost 300 collegiate bowlers in the field, earning the Heart Newcomer of the Year selection a trip to the USBC Intercollegiate Singles Championship in Green Bay, Wis. on Apr. 14, with a chance to earn an individual national championship.
Stefanini, a Corning, N.Y. native who transferred to Clarke from Midland University prior to the start of the 2025-26 season, got stronger as the individual games progressed, rolled a 182 and 172 in the first two games but never rolled lower than a 222 over the next four with a 232, 222, 225, and closed out the session with a 268, which was tied for the second-best individual game score of the top-eight qualifiers individually.
As a team, the Pride men finished up the lengthy competition in 18th place out of the 20 teams in their sectional, posting 12,056 pins knocked down over the 64 baker games played between Saturday and Sunday's play as eight of the individual on the team producing individual scores to be available over the team portion.
In the other individual games, Mason Trapp finished 29th with 1,238 pins, Zach Reuter scored 1,176 pins, Harley Redding had a 1,147-pin finish, AJ Juliano finished at 1,105 pins, Andrew Sass had 1,052 pins, Austin McFarland scored 1,039 pins, and Cole Nietert rounded out the CU scoring with 938 pins.
For the women, Sidney Pawski produced the top individual score at 1,078 pins for an 83rd place finish as her highest-scoring game came in the opening game with a 208 as she was backed up by a 1,071-pin finish from Mia Losee, Alexa McDaniel had 1,032 pins, Emily Larson finished a 969 pins, and Asher Merz posted a 909 to round out the five-woman squad for Clarke.
As a team, the Pride women placed 20th out of the 25 teams in Addison, Ill. with a team total that reached 10,945 after the 64 baker games between Saturday and Sunday to close out their season in the national field for the first time in five seasons.
As previously mentioned, Stefanini will represent Clarke University bowling at the USBC National Finals, specifically the Intercollegiate Singles Championship with his opening play to begin on Tuesday, Apr. 14 after an Apr. 13 practice round with the finals format starting the same as the sectionals qualifying in a six-game qualifying round for the ability to move on to the head-to-head match play bracket with rounds one and two also on Apr. 14 as the final round to take place on Wednesday morning, Apr. 15.
