Pride bowling posts pair of middling finishes at Kohawk Invitational
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - In a smaller field than they've faced over the last two months, the Clarke University bowling teams finished with a women's team seventh place and a men's team ninth place at the Kohawk Invitational on Feb. 7-8 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
The best individual finish on either side came from Austin McFarland in the men's tournament where he placed 27th with a five-game total of 1,037 pins to average 207.4 as his best game coming in the first at a 257 along with two other games over 200 at 230 and 225.
Clarke's women were somewhat bunched together after Saturday's individual rounds with freshman Mia Losee leading the team in 35th place at a 879 total pins to average 175.8 pins over five games as she started strong with her first two games scoring 200 and 216.
Right near Losee's placement were Alexa McDaniel, Sidney Pawski, and Maddy Ardiaz as McDaniel and Ardiaz both also bowled five individual games to 161.4 and 153.2 averages respectively while Pawski had a four-game average of 199.75, bowling scores of 216, 200, 194, and 189.
The remainder of the women's scores had Jennifer Hayakawa put up a three-game average of 148.33, Emily Larson finished at a two-game average of 154, and Asher Merz bowled a 143 in her lone game on Saturday.
Filling out the rest of the men's individual scores, Harley Redding finished in 45th behind McFarland at a five-game average of 199.2, starting off strong at 203 and 220 and didn't score under 186 in his other three games.
Five other members of the Pride men's team produced individual scores with Mason Trapp producing a four-game average of 184.5, Camryn Stefanini not far behind that at a 179.5 average in four games, Zach Reuter producing a three-game average of 196.3, then Andrew Sass and Cole Nietert both bowling two games for averages of 177.5 and 159.5 respectively.
Clarke bowling will have one more competition before they enter their postseason as they will be back in action next weekend at the Columbia 300 Hoosier Classic in Indianapolis, Ind. on Feb. 13-14.
