Losee shines in collegiate debut for Pride women's bowling's strong 2025-26 start
ROCKFORD, Ill. - Starting off the 2025-26 season in Rockford, Ill. for the Hammer Golden Eagle Invite, the Clarke University women's bowling team saw both their varsity and JV units find success to a varsity fourth place and bracket play qualification while the JV team earned the tournament victory this past Saturday and Sunday.
The standout performance on the individual side came from freshman Mia Losee as the two-sport freshman from Janesville, Wis. made quite a first impression in her first collegiate tournament finishing in fifth place individually to earn All-Tournament honors with a total pin count of 949 to average 189.8 over the five games bowled, scoring over 200 pins in two different games with a 239 in game one then 215 in game four.
The Pride varsity's final score on Sunday after baker games finished at 7,043 pins for that fourth place finish, qualifying CU for bracket play where they would match up in the semifinal round against Judson University as Clarke would take the first game in the best of three head-to-head but then the Eagles would earn the final two wins to advance to the finals.
Rounding out the five-woman team for the Clarke varsity squad were Alexa McDaniel, Emily Larson, Jennifer Hayakawa, and Maddy Ardiaz, all bowling all five games, with McDaniel averaging 177.8 pins, Larson close behind at a 171.4 average and a game over 200 with a 202 game five, Hayakawa producing a 210 game one to finish at a 167.2 average, and Ardiaz also bowling her first collegiate tournament to a 162.6-pin average.
Clarke's JV winning squad consisted of junior Sidney Pawski and four freshman in Anna Sickels, Asher Merz, Devin Peterson, and Zoie Swanson as the veteran Pawski produced the best five-game average at 165.2 after 826 pins, followed by Merz with 155.4 pins per game, Peterson producing a 152.2-pin average, Swanson finishing at 148.2 pins per game, and Sickels rounding out the squad at 145.8.
Heading into their bracket play as the No. 2 seed to face off against Judson's JV, the Pride would avenge their varsity teammates to win the best of five matchup as it would go all five games where CU won games two, three, closing out the win with a game-five dominant victory of 198-120.
Clarke women's bowling will continue their fall schedule next weekend when they head east again, this time to Detroit, Mich. for the Midwest Collegiate Championships on Oct. 4-5.
