Mallory McDermott joined the Clarke University women's basketball coaching staff as the top assistant on head coach Adam Hockings staff in the spring of 2025 following a five-year playing career at Western Illinois University.

While playing for the Leathernecks, McDermott finished her career as a 1,000-point scorer with a final total of 1,025 while averaging 7.3 point per game and 17.3 minutes per game, earning a starting role to start 32 of her 33 games played in her final season.

A 5-8 guard, McDermott finished with 190 three pointers made in her career while shooting 34.7 percent from deep, 40 percent from the field, and 80.1 percent from the free throw line.

Away from her playing career, McDermott has experience working at the Cedar Rapis Recreation Center as a site supervisor managing daily operations of scheduling youth sports camps and practices and providing guidance and direction to youth coaches

The Fairfax, Iowa native also provided private basketball lessons to prepre herself for a future in coaching during the summer of 2024 after graduating with her bachelor of business in management degree in May 2024 and is now expecting to earn a master of science in sport management from WIU in May 2025.
