Pride drop high scoring non-conference matchup at Haskell

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Playing their final non-conference game of the 2025-26 season, the Clarke University women's basketball team was unable to pull out a road win against Haskell Indian Nations University on Monday evening in a 97-85 final score in Lawrence, Kan.

After a combined 72 points over the opening 20 minutes of play, the two teams opened up the offense in the second half, as the Pride produced 51 points with Haskell scoring 59 points in the third and fourth quarters combined with the entirety of the game seeing 10 ties and six lead changes throughout the mostly tight contest.

With Haskell slowly growing their lead over the second, third, and fourth quarters, CU had cut the game back to one possession at 80-77 with just under three minutes remaining, but Haskell would answer with a 13-4 run over the next two minutes to lead by 12 points after a Tierzah Penn three points both started and ended that run on her way to a team-high 27-point performance.

Clarke's Hailey Walters continues the best offensive run in her two seasons as a member of the Pride, producing a new career-high with 28 points on Monday for her fifth-straight game of 17 points or more and sixth game in her last seven with as many points after setting her previous career-high on Dec. 13 with 23 points against Central Methodist.

Walters shot 8-of-15 (53.3%) from the field, hitting four of her nine three point attempts, and going a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line while adding three rebounds and two steals as Zoe Kennedy was two assists shy of a triple-double at 22 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists, and Camdyn Kay rounded out CU's double figure scorers with a 14-point game while adding nine rebounds and four steals.

Haskell shot 36-for-70 (51.4%) from the field as a team on the day as Penn's 8-for-16 (50%) day was nearly matched by a higher volume 25 points on 12-of-21 (57.1%) from Ivy Fox, who added eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals with both Ona Dauphinais and Angela Astorga finishing in double figures at 19 and 14 points apiece.

Pride women's basketball will return to Heart of America Athletic Conference play and remain on the road this weekend when they travel to Fulton, Mo. on Saturday, Jan. 17 for a 12:00 p.m. CT scheduled tip against William Woods University.
