Pride freshmen compete at the Fighting Bee Invite
BETTENDORF, Iowa – The Clarke University cross country team wrapped up competition at the Fighting Bee Invitational with a group of only freshmen, as the men placed fourth and the women placed third, respectively.
Megan Hageman was the top finisher in either race, as the Fort Atkinson, Iowa native placed third with a time of 20:15.0, shaving off almost a minute from last weekend's time. Also finishing in the top ten, Samantha Callahan completed the 5k race with a mark of 21:21.0, which was good for ninth place. Crossing the finish line 52 seconds later, Keona Coleman earned a top 20 finish (17th) with her time of 22:13.0. Rounding out the women's heat, Lena Wilson (23:26.0) and Jaide Bittinger (24:36.0) placed 24th and 28th, respectively.
The Pride men would come away with two runners in the top 20 as freshman Chesney Capron (16th) and Eric Chatham (18th) would complete the race in 28:01.0 and 28:15.0. Also finishing within seconds of each other, Cord Nietert (29:15.0) and Drew Pate (29:27.0) were the next pair to finish, earning 25th and 27th place, respectively. Rounding out the men's 8k, Charlie Juntunen crossed the finish line in 30:09.0 for the Pride.
