Pride Athletics Adds Marvin Fong as Men's Volleyball Head Coach
DUBUQUE, Iowa - Clarke University Athletics and Director of Athletics Curt Long as excited to announce Marvin Fong as the 10th head coach for the Pride men's volleyball team starting officially on August 19th, 2025.
"Marvin comes to Clarke with the excitement of returning the program to the heights of its fine tradition," Long said. "He brings a west coast style to our highly competitive conference."
Fong joins CU from his most recent stops at Providence Christian College and Monrovia High School in Southern California as he served one season as the Sea Beggars women's volleyball assistant coach for the 2024 season and was named head coach in the spring of 2025 before the school closed its athletic department.
In 2024 Providence Christian went 12-19 overall and 8-7 in the Cal-Pac Conference, qualifying for the semifinals of the conference tournament as Fong played a vital role in practice planning, pre-game prep, film study, in-game tracking and strategy, as well as the team's recruiting efforts.
From 2019 to 2025, Fong also coached the Monrovia High School boys indoor and beach volleyball teams as he was the main figure in starting the boys volleyball program at Monrovia in 2019 and was able to lead the team to the 2022 California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Southern Section Championship and the school's first CIF State Championship, earning the 2022 CIF State Coach of the Year honor.
Fong has been coaching volleyball since 2013 where he previously served as the Arcadia High School girls and boys volleyball head coach and also worked in the club volleyball scene, serving as the boys U14 head coach for the Forza 1 West Volleyball Club.
Pride men's volleyball went 5-23 in their 2025 season as Fong will work with recent CU volleyball graduates in assistant coach Justin Hernandez and graduate assistant Kainoa Gerard, who are also in their first seasons coaching and also assisting the women's volleyball program at Clarke.
