Pride wrap up competition at Hilltop Invitational
MOUNT VERNON, Iowa – Led by two individual event wins, the Clarke University track and field program wrapped up competition at the Hilltop Invitational on Saturday. The men's team placed sixth with 46 team points, while the women took fourth with 42 team points.
In all, nine Clarke track and field athletes recorded top-three finishes.
Timothy Miller earned his first career win in the pole vault (12' 5.5"/3.80m), while sophomore Sydney Norman placed first in the high jump (4' 7.75"/1.42m). Blake Willis finished third in the triple jump (36' 11.75"/11.27m).
Sophomore James Vandun competed in three events: 60-meter hurdles, long jump and 4x400 meter relay. The Racine, Wis., native finished second in the 60 meter hurdles with a personal best of 9.17, third in the long jump (19' 11.5"/6.08m), and fourth as the last leg of the 4x400 relay team (3:43.36).
In the women's mile, Rory Bickler and Claire Ronnebaum finished second and third, respectively. Bickler set a personal best with a time of 5:45.62, while Ronnebaum finished 12 second short of her career-best (5:49.94).
Freshman Emma Grant continued her hot start to the indoor season after recording her third-straight top-three finish in the pole vault (10'/3.05m).
Next Up
Clarke will head to Davenport to compete at the Fighting Bee Invite, hosted by St. Ambrose University. Action gets underway at 12 p.m. with the high jump and 4x800 meter relay.
