Pride suffer 3-0 loss at RV Baker
BALDWIN CITY, Kan. - Playing in their final road game of the 2025 regular season, the Clarke University men's soccer team fell in a 3-0 final at Baker University on Saturday afternoon.
The Wildcats got on the board quickly when Iwan Roberts scored off of an Akira Itadani in the fourth minute to make it 1-0 before Chafik El Idrissi scored about 11 minutes later off of a Dominik Foldesi assist to double the lead nearly 15 minutes into the game.
It would be a struggle for the Pride to get any offense going as they took four shots in each half but their only two shots on goal came in the first 45 minutes, the first shortly after BU's opening goal, then another from Nearco Zamorano in the 47th minute but Baker goalkeeper Maxot Arystanov was able to make both saves to perserve the shutout.
In the second half, El Idrissi would score his second of the game on a penalty kick with about 3:30 reamining in the game after CU picked up a pair of red cards to be playing down two men for the final six-plus minutes of the contest.
Over the entire 90 minutes, 12 bookings were handed out by the referee, eight of which came in the final 17-plus minutes of the game that included three Baker yellow cards, three Clarke yellow cards, and the two Pride red cards.
Not yet officially eliminated from postseason play, Clarke currently sits in 11th place in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with one regular season game remaining. The Pride hold 12 standings points, just two behind the eighth and final Heart Tournament spot, and will need to win their final game and have teams ahead of them lose their final games to gain enough ground in the standings.
That last game for Pride men's soccer will come at home on Burrows Field on Wednesday, Oct. 29 when they host Culver-Stockton College for a 7:30 p.m. CT scheduled kickoff against the Wildcats.
