DUBUQUE, Iowa - Returning to their home field after a mid-week road matchup, the Clarke University men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 final to Central Methodist University at Burrows Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles didn't have nearly the same amount of offensive opportunties as Clarke did in the full 90 minutes but what they did was take advantage of their scoring chances, producing two goals on just three shots on goal in the form of a Koen Schimmel 28th minute goal and a Matteo Giora 65th minute goal.
That offense was plenty for Niccolo Cabras to produce a seven-save shutout in net for CMU, making four saves in the first half and three saves in the second half as CU's Javi Munoz, William Arana, and Hector Medrano all took two shots on goal in the game.
Medrano and Arana were part of a group of six total members of the Pride lineup to play all 90 minutes, being joined by Carles Aparisi, Daniel Valverde, and Yuto Nishio as the field players to play the whole game and goalkeeper Lucas Fontana playing the whole game in net.
Clarke men's soccer will be back on their home turf for their next Heart of America Athletic Conference game when they host Mount Mercy University on Wednesday, Sept. 24 for a scheduled 7:00 p.m. CT kickoff at Burrows Field between the rival Pride and Mustangs.
