Pride drop Heart opener at home to Benedictine

DUBUQUE, Iowa - Quickly turning around to their first Heart of America Athletic Conference game of the 2026 season just eight days after their season opener, the Clarke University men's lacrosse team fell to Benedictine College 19-1 on Saturday afternoon at Burrows Field.

The Ravens came into Dubuque and produced 5-0 quarters in the first, second, and fourth quarters with CU's lone goal coming in a 4-1 third quarter as the game finished with BC scoring their fewest goals of the season and allowing their second goal in the four games they've played so far in the 2026 season.

The Pride tally in the third quarter came off the stick of Ashani Harvey, who scored his second goal of the season with just under three minutes to go in the period off of an assist from Aiden Gudenkauf, but unfortunately for Clarke, the score was already 14-0 in favor of the visitors.

For Benedictine, their point production was well spread out between nine different multi-point scorers as their leader in goals was Mason Eberle, who produced four goals on five shots and their top point scorer was Jonah Salem, who had three goals and two assists for a five-point day.

In net, Clarke once again split the goalie minutes between senior Jack Fritz, who started and played the first half, and junior Kiereek Mcleod, who played the entire 30 minutes of the second half as Fritz produced more saves with 12 on the 22 shots on goal faced while Mcleod gave up one less goal in his half.

After the brief trip into conference play, Pride men's lacrosse will get back to non-conference action over spring break when they first host Marian University (WI) on Tuesday, Mar. 10 at 7:00 p.m. CT at Burrows Field.
