Pride near end of fall schedule at Eagle Fall Classic

AMANA, Iowa - Competing in their final tune up event before their lone fall conference event, the Clarke University men's golf team finished in seventh place at the Eagle Fall Classic at Amana Colonies Golf Club in Amana, Iowa on Monday and Tuesday.

The five-man team of Brendan Pillion, Anantuch Chonruedeepaisan, Cody Leon, Bryaden Becker, and Jackson Theiler produced a team score of 310 strokes on Monday to stand tied for fourth after the opening round then would card a team 323 on Tuesday to wrap up the tournament in seventh place out of the 11 competing teams.

Hosts Kirkwood Community College would take home the team championship with a final team score of 585 (+9) after shooting a 293 on Monday then going one stroke better on Tuesday's final round with a 292.

Pillion would top the individual leaderboard with his 10th place finish of 149 after an even par 72 on Monday that included five birdies on the card to sit in a tie for fourth after the first day then posted a 77 on day two to sit alone in the 10th place spot in the field of 66 golfers.

The winning score in the individual field came from Reid Hall of Kirkwood as he shot a two-under 142 for the tournament after a 70 (-2) on Monday and an even par 72 on Tuesday to win by two strokes over his teammate Ted Sargeant and Ray Greller of Northwestern College.

Chonruedeepaisan posted a 158 after rounds of 78 and 80 to tie for 27th, Becker was four strokes behind that mark to tie for 42nd at 162, while Leon (164) and Theiler shot 164 and 169 respectively with freshman Ian Lantz competing as an individual and carding a 166.

The Pride men's team will play their final tournament of the fall at the Heart of America Athletic Conference Fall Preview on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 20-21 at the Conference Championship Course of Paradise Point Outlaw Course in Smithville, Mo.
