Theiler finishes T1, Pride men's golf top-five make strong debut at Loras Fall Invite
ASBURY, Iowa - Getting their top-five lineup in tournament action for the first time in the 2025-26 season, the Clarke University men's golf team finished in a tie for second place at the Loras Fall Invite on Sunday and Monday at The Meadows Golf Club.
Led by an individual top placement from junior Jackson Theiler in his Clarke debut, the Pride were able to post a final team score of 610 in a second place tie with Buena Vista and just six team strokes back of team champions St. Amborse as Theiler would finish with a one-over 145 after shooting an even par 72 on Sunday and a 73 on Monday to finish tied for first and officially claim individual runner-up after the tournament would go to a scorecard playoff, where he would fall just short of St. Amborse's Jacob Stoetzel.
Three other members of the CU lineup also made their Pride debuts on Sunday and Monday as freshman Brayden Becker finished tied for 13th place with a final score of 154, carding matching rounds of 77 while juniors Anantuch Chonruedeepaisan and Brendan Pillion played their first rounds in navy and gold over the weekend with Chonruedeepaisan shooting a 76 in round one to eventually finish in 27th place with a 157 while Pillion finished 44th individually with a 160, improving by one stroke from Sunday to Monday.
Lineup incumbent, Cody Leon had the second-highest individual finish on the leaderboard for Clarke as he would post a T19 score of 155 after improving on his Sunday 79 by three strokes on Monday to card a 76 in his first action of the 2025-26 season.
Pride men's golf will look to take their strong start to a bigger field and tougher course in their next event on Sept. 22-23 when they travel to the Quad Cities to compete in the NAIA Midwest Invitational hosted at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. for the St. Amborse hosted tournament that hosted a field of 24 teams and 119 individuals in 2024.
