Newcomers shine in Pride men's bowling's season opener

ROCKFORD, Ill. - In the first tournament of the 2025-26 season for Clarke University men's bowling, the Pride would have a 10th place varsity finish and a 15th place finish for the JV team at the Hammer Golden Eagle Invite this past Saturday and Sunday in Rockford, Ill.

CU's 10th place finish for the varsity lineup came after a 4,768 pin count after Saturday then the 16 baker games produced 3,060 pins for a final total pin count of 7,828 where the JV squad produced 3,995 pins on Saturday and finished out with 2,338 baker pins for a total count of 6,333 for their 15th place result.

The lone individual with a five-game pin total in four figures was Camryn Stenanini as the sophomore Midland University transfer produced 1,029 pins for a 29th place finish in the individual competition with an average of 205.8 and a best game of 254 in game four.

Freshman Andrew Sass was the only othermember of the Pride varsity squad to bowl all five individual games as he finished with a 187.4 average, the next best average came in four games from Harley Redding, who produced 197.25 with no games lower than 184, Mason Trapp had a three-game average of 195.33, and both Cole Nietert and Austin McFarland bowled four games with Nietert averaging 180.75 and McFarland finishing at a 176-pin average.

Clarke's JV squad was led by another newcomer in freshman AJ Juliano as his five-game average finished at an even 188 pins, Zach Reuter produced an average of 162.6, Bryce Vandewostine had a 160.2-pin average, Joey Simpson bowled a 148.6 average, and Mason McElvany rounded out the team's scoring with his 139.6-pin average.

Pride men's bowling will continue their fall schedule next weekend when they head east again, this time to Detroit, Mich. for the Midwest Collegiate Championships on Oct. 4-5.
