Pride bowling finishes up first tournament of 2022-23 at Midwest Collegiate Championships
WAUWATOSA, Wis. - Getting their 2022-23 season started in Wisconsin, the Clarke University bowling teams produced some encouraging individual performances this past weekend at the Midwest Collegiate Championships.
Clarke's top individual finish came on the women's side as Kassidy Gerken posted a 28th place finish with a six-game average of 194 pins that included a high game of 231. Emma Clancy opened up her round with a team-high 233 and finished her tournament with a 178.5 pins per game over her six games, Zoe Schultz finished at a 159.67 average in her first collegiate tournament, and Stephanie Thompson finished right behind Schultz with a 157.67 pins per game average.
For the Pride men, Adante Jones had the top score with 1173 total pins for a six-game average of 195.5 that included a high game of 216. Behind Jones, freshman Alexis Gutierrez averaged 192.17 and also bowled a team-high 269 in his first ever collegiate event as the second-highest finisher for CU on the weekend. Jordan Gorgas was the third and final member of CU's men's side to bowl in all six individual games as he finished with an average of 172.33.
The remainder of the competitors for Clarke's men included Caden Bainbridge who averaged 157.2 pins over five games bowled, Mannix Amos with a 175.75 average over four games, and Landen Freismuth with three games bowled for a 182.33 pins per game average.
Pride bowling will have a week off of competition before returning to action on the weekend of Oct. 29-30 when they travel to Cedar Rapids, Iowa for the Five Seasons Classic.
