Tanner Webb's Clarke Invite win leads freshman to Heart Men's Bowler of the Week honor
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - In their lone home event of the season, the Clarke University men's bowling team had the individual champion of the event as Tanner Webb's win at the Clarke Invite led to the freshman earning Men's Bowler of the Week in the Heart of America Athletic Conference, Heart officials announced on Monday afteroon.
Webb was the top finisher of the 83-person field that competed at Cherry Lanes during Saturday's individual competition that also went into team scores for the overall tournament. Webb's five-game score finished at 1,105 total pins with a tournament average of 221 to edge out Lincoln Memorial University's Ian Friesner by a mere two pins as Friesner scored 1,103 pins.
Webb's lowest score over the five games came in his first game at a 188, from then on he bowled scores over 200 including his last two games coming in the 240s at 242 and 246 to close out the win with his highest scores.
This win is the first in the early career for the Brentwood, Calif. native as he and the Pride will continue on their season this weekend when they compete in the Kohawk Invite in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Feb. 5-6.
