Pride drop tough 75-68 loss to Central Methodist
DUBUQUE, Iowa - Hitting their 20th game of the season on Saturday, the Clarke University men's basketball team moved to an even 10-10 record on the season as they fell by a final of 75-68 to Central Methodist University at the Kehl Center.
The Pride held a 68-67 lead with 2:05 remaining in the game as the Eagles were able to finish off the game on a 8-0 run as CMU took the lead back with 1:10 left and never looked back. In their final four possession, Clarke wasn't able to get a shot attempt up as they suffered turnovers on three of their last four trips the led to Central Methodist extending their lead.
Throughout the entirety of the game, both teams had as much as a two-possession lead as the game was tied at 37-37 at halftime and CMU's largest lead before the seven-point final score was a brief eight-point lead with about 12 minutes to go in the game.
Central Methodist held the shooting advantage from the field overall and from three point range as they shot 43.8 percent from the field and 25.0 percent from deep compared to 36.1 and 18.2 percent for the Pride.
Both teams only had two players in double figures as Jonathan Brown of CMU led all players with 23 points while adding seven rebounds and five assists as he was supported by a 15-point, 15-rebound double-double from Fode Camara.
Clarke was led by a 20-point effort from Jordan Lake as he added four rebounds and three assists while Jacob Fierst finished with 18 points and eight rebounds.
It will be a quick turnaround for the Pride as they'll head to Davenport, Iowa tomorrow afternoon for a rare spring semester non-conference matchup with St. Ambrose University for a 3:00 p.m. CT tip off against the Bees.
