Pride welcome Terri Mayberry as Director of Cheer and Dance

DUBUQUE, Iowa, - Clarke University Athletics is excited to announced the hiring of Terri Mayberry as the Pride's newest Director of Cheer and Dance, joining as a full time member of the athletic department.

Mayberry joins CU from her previous position as the head cheerleading coach at Dubuque Senior High School, where she resided since 2007 in that part-time role for the Rams while also working as a beauty consultant in Dubuque.

Joining to take over the current iteration of Clarke's dance program, Mayberry will be tasked with growing the roster as a whole to move from a club sport to an NAIA partnered team as well as developing a cheerleading team along what already currently exists inside of the dance program.

Over the recent past, the Pride dance team had done sideline cheering for football and basketball as well as halftime dance routines at those athletic events as Mayberry's experience in stunting and tumbling will hopefully expand upon what Clarke already does within the program.

While running the cheer program as Senior, Mayberry built and lead a program of over 60 student-athletes where she developed choreography routines, taught cheers, held tryouts, and planned her schedules and practices. Her teams competed at the State Competitions in Iowa from 2012-2015 as she has taken teams to compete in various areas, including several first and second place finishes during camps at Wisconsin Dells.

The Rams cheer squad would also travel to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York as her junior and senior cheerleaders had performed seven times during the parade. Mayberry has also had her teams participate in several community service activities locally in Dubuque including the Dubuque County Fair, Asbury in the Park, Arboretum Kids Day, and Relay for Life.
